Because of a 175 year-old copper beech tree right in the middle of the property, this particular plot of land was considered unsuitable for development for a long time. The new senior citizens’ residential building frames this copper beech and thus forms an inner courtyard the character of which is defined by the presence of the tree. At the same time the building is integrated into the existing brick building dated from the 1920s and 30s in terms of materiality and cubage.
