A commercial building was built at the location of the former Rahlstedt railway station as a surround for the station square. In order to breathe life into the square, an arcade with retail shops was incorporated on the ground floor. The building was completed in 2013.

Due to the very positive feedback an extension on the adjoining property is now planned. Planning permission exists and completion is scheduled for the end of 2018.
